Data recipes

Data recipes are comprised of a series of data operations applied to a dataset, and are created during the Data Preparation step in the Continuous Wizard or Discrete & Batch Wizard. These recipes can be deployed according to a schedule, to apply the operations to a dataset at a scheduled time.

Selecting a data recipe file (with a .drcp file extension) to deploy will open a configuration dialog.

Recipe properties

Name

This is the name of the selected data preparation recipe for deployment, according to a defined schedule.

Import operations

During data preparation either within the Continuous Wizard or Discrete & Batch Wizard, a dataset was imported and a number of data operations applied to the data. The name of the dataset, the import operation and the fields within the dataset are listed in the configuration dialog.

  1. Replace: Replace the selected dataset with an alternative dataset.

  2. Select which dataset to import from those listed.

  3. Configure the import operation, following the wizard prompts. The import operations are those available during data preparation.

Note: The data sources used in data recipes can be reconfigured, within the Continuous Wizard or Discrete & Batch Wizard. Reconfiguring the sources means that the same data operations are applied to different data, from another data source. Typically, reconfiguring this data source will entail changing the data window from a fixed data window period to a dynamic data window period. Read more about reconfiguring sources in the Data Preparation help file.

Export operations

Export the outcomes of the data recipe to a data sink. If a data sink was part of the data recipe, it will be listed here. Otherwise, add a new data sink to save the outcomes of the data recipe.

  • Add: Add a file to which the data recipe outcomes are exported.

    • Select the required dataset and operation level to save. The data fields up to and including the selected operation will be listed, and exported to the data sink.

    • Select the export operation. The export operations are those available during data preparation.

    • Configure the export file by clicking on the ellipses [...],providing a file name, and following the wizard prompts.

  • Remove: Remove the dataset to which the data fields will be exported. The dataset will be removed immediately.

Schedule

Define when the Action Object will be deployed. This can occur either once, or periodically.

  • Set the schedule start date and time.

  • Schedule the deployment period in h:mm:ss

Error handling

An error may occur during execution of an Action Object, such as when a data source connection is dropped. By default, when this happens for Scheduled Objects, the data recipe goes into an error state for that execution. However, it is possible to configure the CSense Runtime Manager so that execution of the data recipe is enabled again at the next scheduled time.

This is configured via the Proficy CSense Run-time Properties dialog box.
